Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), re. mains widely prevalent globally. After various countries lifted the control measures against the COVID-19 pandemic, peaks of respirato.ry tract infections have emerged successively, and the reasons for this remain controversial. This article systematically summarizes the classification of respiratory tract infections, and their main influencing factors, and provides a detailed discussion on the internal con.nections between COVID-19 infection and these factors. This includes the long-term changes in the respiratory and immune systems af. ter COVID-19, as well as the correlation between non-pharmaceutical interventions and respiratory tract infections. Based on the sum.mary of relevant literature, this article concludes that the increase in the incidence of respiratory tract infections after COVID-19 may be caused by the combined effects of changes in the immune system, non-pharmaceutical interventions, vaccination, and other factors. This article can provide a reference for in-depth research on the correlation between COVID-19 and respiratory tract infections.
